Loved reading this. We have plotted all the lighthouses and beacons along the southern shores of the North Sea in this map: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?hl=nl&mid=1DH0C7L7J3Tl6AQJJG33RziP68rGyPS_s&ll=52.98541908363366%2C6.582475118337147&z=8

Hannah, as you know, I share your love of lighthouses. I enjoyed reading about the brightly painted Norwegian houses guiding ships at sea. One of the best books I've read is 'Seashaken Houses' by Tom Nancollas if you are interested in the history of British lighthouse construction.

Hi Hannah, love your subject and love your writing. Recently, I spent some time on the island of Borkum off the coast of Ostfriesland. From my room I could see the faint lights of a lighthouse beyond the horizon. Celestial magic and technological progress intertwined.

Thanks very much, Ruediger! I've always wanted to visit Ostfriesland and hope I will get there some day. Until now I've only experienced the region from afar through its famous tea -- which I like, but I'm sure there is much more to discover!
